[HARD CONTACT] Chapter 6: My thoughts are already on Darman x Etain

Perhaps Jinart was naturally reassuring, as comforting as a grandmother, despite all her odd talk.

Etain couldn’t actually remember a grandmother, or any of her biological family, of course. Family wasn’t familiar or soothing because she had grown up in a commune of Jedi novices, educated and raised and cared for by her own kind, and by that she never meant human.

But family, even from what she had seen briefly of squabbling farmers’ clans, suddenly seemed desirable. It was difficult to be alone right then.

Darman had absolute confidence that he was one of the best special ops soldiers ever created. He was undistracted by the everyday concerns of raising a family and making a living, things that his instructors said he was lucky never to know.

But now he was alone. Very, very alone. It was very distracting indeed.

I just love this paralel between Darman and Etain. 

Edit: I forgot to elaborate lmao

So both Etain and Darman had their own community, that couldn't be described as the traditional structure of a family, but they both have some kind of knowledge what family should look like. Etain knows she was separated from their birth parents so she doesn't know the comfort of a loving parents. Darman knows family is something he shouldn't aim for, because it's a natborn thing, and natborns are envying HIS life anyway (according to his trainer).

But even now I think Darman still had something that was much more resembling to a family than Etain, because he truly feels the loss of his podbrothers. Now I know that Etain's thoughts are Jinart's coercion that she should stay put, but Jinart had to got these wishes and thoughts from somewhere. I think there is a void inside Etain's heart.

OH babussss TT^TT This also resonates beautifully with the into to all of it, when Darman feels so utterly lonely after his natural team's death; that he was always was trained how to work as one with them, but never how to live without them.
