Niner didn’t know him well enough yet to guess his movements, and it had been enough of a close shave for him not to spend much time contemplating the issue. Now he was worried that he—the sergeant, the man they looked to for leadership—had run for it without thinking of them, and that they knew it.

I really love how babu takes his role so seriously, but also, that his over-achiever anxious busy nature how becomes from annoyance to dependable in the eyes of his teammates. I really loved the bits in later books when the rest of Omega trusts him with decision and preparing, so all this stress in him is not for nothing. :3

Indeed! This whole progression how Omega Squad becomes a team and how Niner truly fits into this leadership position. Niner is very couragous, so his anxiety never actually gets in the way of getting shit done. He is such a rolemodel for this, honestly.
