Niner waited, all mild, deceptive patience. Fi had decided on first meeting him that he was a misery-guts, but now he found him solid and reassuring, just the way a sergeant ought to be. “Let’s be clear what we’re trained to do, gentleman. We go in and extract hostages by any means necessary. We don’t ask for ID. We don’t take targets alive. We don’t avoid damaging the furniture. When you send us in, there is no happy ending.” He paused as if waiting to see if the reality of the request had sunk in. “So we’ll just wander around and rig the interrupts to the power and light, and you call us when you’re ready to roll.”

Niner being badass, but Fi's description of him just sending me to orbit. I really love their dynamics so much. Niner spends his free-time being annoyed at Fi and Fi is annoyed that Niner is so stick-in-the-ass all the time, but at the end of the day, Niner is a reliable Ori'vod sergeant they can all trust.

I also really loved Niner's description / character through Fi's eyes and how the shared combat experience made the change in Niner's image: First Niner worrying over everything is annoying, because he is not used to it / takes it as a sign of mistrust (can't blame Fi after their first meeting on that one). Now Fi knows that Niner worrying means he keeps everything in hand, everything is safe because he does all the checks double time, that Niner doesn't writes off situations half-heartedly because he is thorough and if they have questions he will be able to answer them because he double-asses everything. Niner worrying is their re-assurance that they can fall back on him if needed.
